If your reading this an error has occurred!
This is probably because your browser is not a standard broswer or because it is a very early version of a browser and therefore is not supported by Ratho Local History
We currently support only Internet Explorer Version 5 or later, Netscape 5 or later, Opera 6 or later browsers and these are optimised to use either 800x600 and 1024*800 screen resolutions. The combination of browser and screen you are currently using will not allow Ratho Local History to be viewed.
Ratho Local History CD requires MS Windows 98 or later, atleast 64Mb of memory and an internet browser (eg MS INTERNET EXPLORER - Versions IE5 or later, NETSCAPE NAVIGATOR - Versions NS6 or later, MOZILLA - Versions Mozilla 1.0 or later, OPERA - Versions 6 or later).
For those of you with earlier versions of internet browsers, or without a browser we hoped to provide an installable browser on this CD. This for legal reasons have not been possible and therefore below we have provided links to locations to download a browser.
For the latest Internet Explorer browser visit: http://www.microsoft.com For the latest Mozilla browser visit: http://www.mozilla.com/downloads For the latest Netscape browser visit: http://www.netscape.com Opera browsers can be downloaded from http://www.opera.com. Please note that Opera generally has to be purchased, however a free version is available with advertisements in it and this is available from http://www.opera.com/products/user/index.dml?platform=windows.
If you do not have access to the internet then it is possible to obtain a browser on CD (eg MS Internet Explorer is provided on the installation disks for some versions of Windows and many magazine cover CDs provide copies of the latest browsers).

IF THE CD WILL NOT AUTORUN
If this CD fails to automatically launch when placed in a CD drive then it is possible to manually launch the Ratho Local History viewer by two methods. The first, (a) will still sort out the most appropriate version for the combination of many of the common browsers and your computers screen resolution and the second (b) will allow a fully manual launch of the either provided viewer versions.
a] You can launch the selector to determine the most appropriate viewer for browser and screen combinations and launch Ratho Local History following these instructions. (You must have an appropriate browser installed and if you have a non standard screen you may have to see [b] below also):
The file you need to run is [CD drive]\rlh\a1_rlh_selector.htm and this can be run as explained here;
b] Even if [a] above fails or you have a non standard screen then you can still launch the version most appropriate for your computer screen resolution by running either the following files;
You may need to try both to select the most appropriate for your browser and screen resolution combination. (Again you must have an appropriate browser installed). You can run these files as explained here;
If the content seems too small for your screen then [entry_1_800.htm] will give the best fit whilst if the contents seems too large for the screen then [entry_1_1024.htm] will give the best fit available.
Alternatively any of the specified files can be selected from within you browser by specifing them as the file to be opened.
